G08703t5 Waffen-SS Sleeve Eagle, Final Pattern

G08703t5 Waffen-SS Sleeve Eagle, Final Pattern

The familiar silver gray on black second pattern Waffen-SS machine embroidered sleeve eagle was introduced in 1938.  There were numerous minor variations of this sleeve eagle, but all had a common feature, except the final pattern. The top row of stitching forming the eagle’s wings was slanted in the opposite direction from the lower 4 rows.  Only on the final pattern did all rows slant in the same direction.

This very uncommon bird is that final variation. I purchased 2 of them from a picker in southern Illinois. (The other resides in my collection, and is not for sale.)

It is in mint condition.
