G7055.6 Army Steel Belt Buckle, D & C 1940

G7055.6 Army Steel Belt Buckle, D & C 1940

Here we have a classic wartime steel army combat buckle. This belt buckle is a single piece steel stamping.    In the center of the integral roundel is a drop wing army pattern eagle.  Around the eagle is an oak leaf half wreath and the traditional German Army ”Gott Mit Uns” motto above the wreath.

The catch is the normal wire catch with ends flattened to form feet. It is brazed to the steel body. The roll bar consists of a steel pin with an aluminum shroud holding aluminum prongs in place.

This buckle is marked "D & C 1940" near the catch (Dransfeld & Co., Menden.)

Some moron stripped the field gray paint from the front of the buckle and polished it to a high gloss. The paint on the reverse of the buckle is about 80 - 90% due to normal wear from the leather belt. The reverse also has some glue on it which can easily be soaked off.
