G7103.2 WWII German Army Gunner's Insignia

G7103.2 WWII German Army Gunner's Insignia

The gunner’s insignia consisted of a flaming shell surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves. It was worn on the lower left sleeve by qualified gunners.

This insignia is of BeVo (machine woven) construction. The shell and wreath are woven in light yellow on a dark green background. The construction includes a heavy (about 0.5mm) cord that gives the insignia a padded effect when sewn on. This cord does not show in the design.

The insignia is in unused / uncut condition. The background has some insect damage (silverfish?), but the design is not damaged.
