U06401-1 - U.S. WWI Compass
WWI U. S. Army compass manufactured by Wittnauer.
This is the pocket watch style commonly used by the U. S. Army in WWI and in WWII. The case is brass with some sort of a silver or chrome plating. "U. S." is stamped on the flip open cover. The only other marking is "Wittnauer" at the south mark on the compass. The blued steel needle floats on a jeweled bearing. Overall, there is light age and wear to the case, and the arrow points South instead of North, which must be a manufacturing error.
