U3313/2 WWI Grenade Vest

U3313/2 WWI Grenade Vest

This 11 pocket vest was used to carry grenades.  It was also used by Marine Raiders in WWII.

This article was meant to carry grenades. It has an adjustable neck strap and 2 ties to go around the chest and waist. It has 11 pockets, 6 on the top row and 5 on the bottom row, each with a snap closure. It is made of khaki cloth and blackened bass hardware.

It is in mint condition, with original ties on the straps for shipping. It is stamped "H.H. & Co. / May 1918 / Inspection E. Wright" in black in on the reverse. (The 3rd line is hard to read, but I'm close.)

I purchased this from a military surplus shop in British Columbia.
