U7153D3 - WWI U.S. Army Medical Pouch?

The exact purpose of this pouch is in question, but most experts feel it was used for a field dressing or some other personal medical supplies.  It is in near mint condition.

This khaki canvas pouch is 8" wide x 5 1/4" high with a long web strap that holds it 3 1/2" below the point of attachment on the pistol belt or ammo belt. It closes with 2 lift-the-dot fasteners. The maker's mark and date are located under the flap and look to be "N.B.CO. 10-18". The pouch exhibits minor soiling, but negligible age or wear.
